Clinton got revenge and Hudson rolled to an 11-0 season Friday in the second round of the football playoffs.

Adrian lost to Fenton 35-7 and saw its season come to an end at 9-2.

CLINTON 22, SMCC 14

Clinton came from a 7-6 deficit to take a 22-7 lead into the fourth quarter and survived a late SMCC rally to win the Division 7 district championship.

Braxton Randolph scored on a 16-yard run with 8:17 left in the game to put Clinton up 22-7.

SMCC came back and found the end zone on a 5-yard pass from Drew Ferreira to Cole Reinhardt to make it 22-14. The Falcons then recovered an onside kick and drove inside the Clinton 10-yard line. An intentional grounding call set the Falcons back and two late throws into the end zone were off the mark.

Gradyn Whelan threw a touchdown pass and was 2-for-2 for 101 yards through the air. He also rushed for 26 yards.

Clifford Jones had 14 rushes for 51 yards. Randolph scored twice.

SMCC had more first downs (15-9) and more yards on offense (255-219).

Hudson 50, White Pigeon 20

The undefeated Tigers led 22-6 at halftime. White Pigeon cut the deficit to 22-14 in the third quarter before the Hudson offense steamrolled White Pigeon the rest of the way.

Fenton 35, Adrian 7

The visiting Tigers spread the ball around and beat the Maples, who finished the season 9-2.

Quote of the week

“The group has been on the varsity for two years now. They are seniors now and have been in our system. They have been in the weight room. The whole school is on the same page when it comes to that. Our coaching staff is all coming back and there is continuity there and that is important.”
